Located in a regeneration area of the Welsh town of Newport, and on a very tight urban site, The University of Wales Newport Campus is home to a Business School, School of Art, Media & Design and houses library, workshops and flexible studios. The brief was to create a new learning quarter with the city centre, providing an inspirational place for learning, foster physical links between the water and the city centre and reinvigorate the city’s waterfront.

The classroom walls had to be robust and durable. There was a high sound performance requirement, particularly for teaching areas and a high requirement for fire protection and meeting environmental standards.
