Key Achievements

  • LEED – Platium standards, is a Net Zero Building.
  • Level 5 Primer achieved a superior finish in the atrium and other critical lighting areas.
  • This project included world class designs and modern living spaces combined with the opportunity to teach Canada's future workforce!

Key Challenges

Exterior/interior walls consist of unique irregular shapes, incorporating complex room designs, complex angles, all of which contributed to daily construction challenges, from design right down to the final installation. Open concept construction, floor to ceiling windows equaled excessive natural sunlight.
CertainTeed’s grid system was used to create many different complex drywall and acoustic ceilings.
With high acoustic ratings throughout the school, this meant acoustic insulation had to meet high stc standards.

Smith Brothers Contracting

Smith Brothers’ Contracting Corp., established in 1932, has successfully worked with area contractors, architects and owners serving the Southern Ontario market place. Current management represents the fourth generation of continual involvement of the Smith Family. The company was originally established as a residential plastering contractor and has evolved into a fully integrated interior contractor. The company provides a broad range of construction services including drywall systems, acoustical ceiling systems, demountable partition systems and sprayed fire proofing. As the industry has evolved so has Smith Brothers’ Contracting. The company now has the capability to perform all functions within the interior contracting realm. Projects range from small renovations to large scale multi-million dollar contracts. The company’s diversification has provided the opportunity and experience to develop full interior contracting capabilities. The market for this interior contracting approach is clearly growing and Smith Brothers’ Contracting is growing with it.
