The 12th Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy will now take place on Friday, November 5, 2021 in Athens, Greece. Due to Coronavirus and in line with Saint-Gobain Health and Safety policy towards clients and employees, the 2021 Trophies have been postponed from April to November.
The most complex and amazing projects from allover the world will be competing in 6 categories (Ceilings, Plaster, Plasterboard, Innovation & Sustainability, Residential, and Non-Residential) for the chance to win one of the 14 prizes. The competing projects serve as a reference for Drywall system craftsmanship in the Gypsum industry and inspire greatness among the international interior building community.
To help keeping global temperature increase within 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, Saint-Gobain has committed to become net “zero carbon company” by 2050. The Group is already making a significant contribution to improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions on its construction, mobility and industry markets. With this new commitment, Saint-Gobain goes one step further towards impact reduction. This 2050 vision is critical to drive Saint-Gobain’s medium and long-term strategy.
Within this mind-set, in addition to the different efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of our events (avoiding waste, avoiding plastic, serving local food, selecting hotels with green policies), Saint-Gobain has decided, for the first time, to voluntary compensate the CO2 emissions linked to the International Gypsum Trophies event. The compensation includes flights to destination for the 350 participants and the emissions of a two-day event in Athens. The company has committed help a local Greek non-profit organisation (Hellenic Society for Protection of Nature) finance a sustainable project, which includes reforestation and awareness programmes about forest fires which regularly hits the country, particularly during summer 2019, due to extraordinary heatwaves, drought and great winds #climatechange
Meet the Jury!
Judging for the International Trophy is a long, demanding and challenging process. To ensure that all entries are judged on an equitable basis, specific judging criteria have been developed and the International Jury Committee has been selected carefully. The judges are able to both assess the technical skills of drywall contractors and the overall performance of the systems and solutions implemented during the course of the projects. The panel is selected by the International Central Marketing Team to guarantee objectivity and to ensure full comprehension of all technical aspects. The 12th International Jury is comprised of Saint-Gobain and external experts as well as country delegates.
President of the Jury & Global Marketing Manager – Central Marketing and Development, Saint-Gobain
Rupert has been in the building materials industry for 20 years. This is the sixth Saint-Gobain International trophy awards which he has been involved in and the fith time on the Jury. In addition to other marketing roles and support for a number of countries, he is also responsible for the Global Product Management of Building Plasters and Plasterboard Finishing within the activity. Rupert has been in the building materials industry for 20 years.
Professor at the Department of Architecture, Prague
Zuzana Pešková is a Professor at the Department of Architecture Faculty of Civil Engineering in Prague, Czech Republic. She has a degree in structural engineering and architecture. After 15 years of teaching, Zuzana is now Head of the Design Studio programme for students of Architecture and Building Engineering, on subjects of Architectural Interior and Graphic Presentation. In parallel to her teaching, she has been designing interiors of grocery shops for 20 years and she runs her own architectural practice for residential houses, urban designs and interiors. Zuzana also is a member of professional committees in the field of architecture, urbanism, protected land areas, monument care and building materials.
Secretary General of Eurogypsum
Tristan is the Secretary General of Eurogypsum, the European Manufacturers Association for Plaster and Plasterboard Products. He represents the interests of the industry towards European institutions and other stakeholders. Tristan is a French and Belgian national educated at Sciences Po Lille (France) and the ZEI Centre for European Integration Studies in Bonn (Germany). He has 16 years’ experience in European public affairs and communications, having worked for renowned consultancy firms and advised trade federations and large companies in the construction, energy and metal industry.
Pinnara Na Ranong
Export Sales & Marketing Director, Saint-Gobain Construction Products, Thailand
Pinnara has been working with Saint-Gobain since 2004 and has extensive sales, marketing and technical experience in more than 15 export countries, not only in Asia but also Australia, New Zealand and Africa. She is an engineer with master degree in marketing and has over 20 years’ experience in construction industry. This is Pinnara’ s first time on the Jury.
Consultant and Researcher
Jos Lichtenberg has been active in the building innovation for more than 40 years. He started in 1976 as a hands-on product developer and innovation manager in the construction industry. In 1980 he created a consulting company in product development. And in 2002, after finishing his PhD, he became a Professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology. In 2011 he won The National Lighthouse Award for his merits in Building Innovation. In 2016, he left the University and co-initiated a new business network, “Off Road Innovations”. to boost innovation in buildings or accommodation concepts for prominent owners and users of real estate.
Marketing Manager, Brands & Customer Experience, Saint-Gobain Romania
Oana joined Saint-Gobain 5 years ago, as Marketing Manager, and now manages a wider portfolio of the main brands – Rigips, Isover, Weber in Romania. She also coordinates the Technical Development team and the Product Managers for Gypsum for Project specification, including BIM solutions and new technical solutions, green building solutions. Her passion for interior design and openness to new learning experiences enabled her to easily integrate the construction business, having an economic background and having worked for 15 years in Fast Moving Consumer Goods.
Vice President Marketing US, CertainTeed
Najwa has been in the building industry for 20 years and came to Saint-Gobain with strong Gypsum experience working for the market leader; Gyprock in Australia where she was the General Manager - Marketing. Currently the Vice President Marketing US, her experience is driving change in the business. In 2018, she was a finalist in the Australian Women in Construction awards for industry advocacy for her work on mentoring and developing the women’s chapter for the plasterboard industry association where she was also an executive member for 8 years.
Ghislaine Bagdi is an architect, graduated from the National School of Architecture of Paris-Belleville in 1991. Her professional career began at the François Spoerry Agency in Port-Grimaud (France), where she participated within the group on many international competitions. After several years of learning in Zurich (Switzerland), she moved to Paris to create her own architecture agency. After 10 years of practice, she joined Saint-Gobain Distribution as a Prescription Manager for New Energies. She now works for Saint-Gobain’s first innovation center dedicated to professionals (architects, design offices, contractors, industrials): the Domolab. This centre was built with the aim to have a global vision of the habitat market and to anticipate of future evolutions. It also aims at creating interactions and opening the dialogue between professionals and researchers.
Global Product Manager for Ceilings, Saint-Gobain
Ashutosh has been in the construction industry over 17 years with a vast experience in drywall construction. He is currently in charge of Global Product Management of Ceilings, Lightweight technology and Offsite in the Gypsum business of Saint-Gobain. He has a unique and diverse experience of emerging and mature markets in the construction product industry. He was a jury in 2016 and also lead the National Trophy event in India in past. He is an avid reader, runner who loves travelling.
